It is the responsibility of the HOA to ensure that the estate maintains a high degree of aesthetic integrity and harmony, both with the surrounding environment and with the other built elements on the estate.
At the same time, the HOA permits individuality and personality, without which the estate would appear sterile and contrived.
The Sparrebosch Architectural Design Manual is a guide-plan developed with the following objectives:
- To develop overall architectural themes in keeping with the character of the Knysna area.
- To create guidelines which take into consideration site specific conditions.
- To encourage owners to build and landscape in harmony with the natural environment.
- To control those elements which have the greatest visual impact and ensure a harmonious overall look.
- To ensure that the quality of materials and designs for all homes reinforce rather than detract from overall property values.
- To avoid the temptation to over-prescribe minor details.
The HOA management team is able to offer advice about architects, building contractors and interior decorators.
